VRSF E90 335i, E82 135i, X1 N55 Downpipe | 2011-2015

The VRSF 3.5-inch downpipe replaces the factory downpipe on E-chassis BMWs with the single-turbo N55 engine: the 335i sedan, coupe and convertible, the E82 135i and the E84 X1 xDrive35i. The race version now comes with Cerakote ceramic coating at no extra cost, and a high-flow catted version is also offered.

What It Does

The factory N55 downpipe carries a large converter right after the turbo. Removing that restriction lets the turbo spool faster and makes the car pull harder, with VRSF citing 25 to 30 hp with a tune. The catted version uses a 200-cell high-flow converter, and VRSF's dyno testing showed about 20 bhp over stock with it.

Materials and Construction

The pipe is hand crafted and TIG welded from 3.5-inch 304 stainless steel with a flow-modeled cast stainless merge collector and smooth radius bends. The flanges are CNC machined from 304 stainless. The Cerakote thermal barrier keeps heat inside the exhaust and out of the engine bay, which helps lower intake air, coolant and transmission temperatures. Gaskets and mounting hardware are included.

Required Parts
