A90 Supra AWE Touring: Resonated or Non-Resonated?

A90 Supra AWE Touring: Resonated or Non-Resonated?

On the 3.0-liter A90/A91 Toyota GR Supra, choosing an AWE Touring exhaust means making two separate sound decisions. Touring specifies the rear section with AWE's 180 Technology. Resonated or non-resonated specifies the tubing ahead of it. A non-resonated Touring system still keeps the rear drone-canceling chambers. It is not the same thing as a Track Edition.

With the factory downpipe, AWE recommends non-resonated Touring for a fuller note and stronger pops and burbles in Sport mode. With an aftermarket downpipe, AWE recommends resonated Touring to help control the extra rasp. Resonated Touring also works with the stock downpipe if softer pops and a more restrained note are what you want.

The AWE non-resonated Touring exhaust with Diamond Black tips is the direct starting point for a stock-downpipe Supra whose owner wants that livelier sound. Before ordering, separate the downpipe decision from the Touring-versus-Track decision.

What changes, and what stays the same?

The Supra Touring system uses dual 3-inch T304L stainless-steel tubing and a stamped inlet merge. Both Touring versions retain the rear 180 Technology sections. AWE describes those sections as targeting drone-prone frequencies without a baffled exhaust path.

The resonated version adds resonators in the intermediate tubing. The non-resonated version uses plain tubing in that location. AWE's installation guide identifies separate resonated and non-resonated axle tubes, then lists the Touring rear sections independently. That separation explains why a resonator choice does not remove the Touring system's rear sound-control hardware.

Think of the two choices as addressing different parts of the experience. Touring's rear sections address the sustained cabin frequencies AWE is trying to cancel. The additional resonators tune the character of the exhaust note, particularly when the downpipe changes. Removing those intermediate resonators does not automatically turn Touring into Track, and adding them does not make the exhaust valved.

Choose around the downpipe you actually have

Your setup Touring choice Reason
Factory downpipe, fuller sound wanted Non-resonated AWE's recommendation for a stock-downpipe car.
Factory downpipe, softer pops preferred Resonated AWE confirms this combination works and describes softer Sport-mode pops and burbles.
Aftermarket downpipe Resonated AWE recommends it to help control rasp introduced by the downpipe.
Stock downpipe now, different downpipe planned Plan the resonator choice now Choose for the intended final setup rather than comparing clips from unlike cars.

There is no need to buy a downpipe just to make a resonated Touring exhaust worthwhile. If the stock-downpipe resonated sound is the one you prefer, that is a supported choice. Likewise, a stock-downpipe owner who wants the more pronounced non-resonated character does not have to accept the Track Edition's different rear-section layout to get it.

For an aftermarket downpipe, the inlet connection matters as well as sound. AWE supplies an adapter for stock and aftermarket downpipes with 80 mm outlets. For outlets larger than 80 mm, AWE says the supplied adapter is removed and a custom adapter is needed to mate the downpipe to the merge's 3.5-inch inlet. That is a connection detail to settle before installation, not a reason to assume every downpipe bolts up identically. Downpipes that affect emissions devices are for racing use only.

Compare clips with the same hardware

An exhaust video is only useful if you know what is on the car. Start with the downpipe, then confirm Touring or Track, and finally confirm resonated or non-resonated tubing. A clip labeled only "AWE Supra exhaust" leaves the most important sound choices unanswered.

Compare a stock-downpipe Touring car with another stock-downpipe Touring car if that is what you own. A resonated system behind an aftermarket downpipe is not a clean comparison with a non-resonated system behind the factory downpipe. The recording location and microphone can change the impression too. Use clips to understand character, not as a measured promise of cabin volume.

AWE's own guidance is a better ordering rule than chasing the loudest short rev clip. It connects the resonator choice to the downpipe, while still allowing resonated Touring on a stock car. Your preference can decide between the supported combinations without turning somebody else's recording into a guarantee.

Order the right Touring version

AWE identifies the non-resonated Touring versions as 3020-32058 with Chrome Silver tips and 3020-33072 with Diamond Black tips. The resonated Touring versions are 3015-32118 with Chrome Silver tips and 3015-33132 with Diamond Black tips. All four use two 5-inch, double-walled, slash-cut tips.

The part number is worth keeping beside the product name. "Touring" alone does not tell you which intermediate tubes are included, and the tip finish does not tell you whether the system is resonated. Match both choices rather than ordering from a photo alone.

This guide covers AWE's 3.0-liter GR Supra application, not the 2.0-liter car. AWE lists 2020-2026 3.0-liter Base and Premium applications, alongside the Launch, A91 and A91-MT editions and other listed special editions. The current manufacturer exception is specific: these systems do not fit the 2026 Final Edition with its factory bracing still in place. Do not treat that car as an ordinary 2026 fitment or remove factory braces just to follow a generic product table.

A conversion kit is not a complete exhaust

Keep the intermediate resonator change separate from a rear-section edition change. AWE describes a resonator conversion route for owners starting with a non-resonated setup who later change the downpipe. A Touring-to-Track conversion changes the rear section instead. Those are different purchases.

The Supra Track-to-resonated-Touring rear-section kit is explicitly a rear-section-only conversion. It is not a complete resonated Touring exhaust and is not a substitute for buying the correct intermediate tubes. Tell us which complete system you already have before selecting conversion hardware.

Browse the AWE exhaust and performance-parts collection after deciding which configuration fits your Supra. For a new stock-downpipe build, non-resonated Touring is AWE's fuller-sound recommendation. Choose resonated Touring for a softer stock-downpipe note or to follow AWE's recommendation with an aftermarket downpipe. Keep the rear edition, intermediate tubes and tip finish as three distinct ordering choices.
