Active Autowerke E82 135i/E9X 335i N55 Aluminum Charge Pipe

The factory charge pipe on the N55-powered BMW 135i and E9X 335i is plastic, and it is known to crack at the seam, even on stock boost. When it fails the engine sees a large boost leak and drops into limp mode. The Active Autowerke aluminum charge pipe replaces it with a stronger part that holds up to stock or raised boost.

Active Autowerke lists it for the 2011-2013 135i and the 2011-2012 335i, including the convertible.

What It Does

Swapping to aluminum removes the weak plastic seam. Active Autowerke also kept the tubing a consistent 3 in all the way through, with no reduced sections, to help airflow. The throttle body end is a CNC-machined part that copies the factory fit for a tight seal.

Materials and Construction

3 in aluminum tubing with a CNC-machined throttle body connection. The N55 has its diverter valves built into the turbo compressor housing rather than the charge pipe, so there is no provision for an aftermarket blow-off valve.
