Active Autowerke F87 M2C Equal Length Mid Pipe Gen 2 Res

The resonated version of the Active Autowerke Gen 2 equal length mid pipe for the BMW F87 M2 Competition fixes the uneven sound of the S55 without replacing the rear exhaust. Its resonated connecting pipes, developed with Active Autowerke factories, remove rasp with very little change in volume, and it is the version Active Autowerke recommends with aftermarket downpipes. The design is covered by US patent 11248511 and UK and EU patent 3882441, and the Active F-brace is included.

The S55 in the M2 Competition sends exhaust from two turbos through a factory mid pipe that keeps the banks apart, and the downpipes are different lengths. The result is the uneven, "dueling three-cylinders" sound many owners dislike, plus a restrictive path for the gases.

What It Does

Active Autowerke lengthens one side and uses a patented crossover with sinusoidal (wave-shaped) pipes so pulses from both banks are evened out before they mix. That turns the uneven S55 sound into the smooth, full note you expect from an inline-six. The Gen 2 resonators also reduce the 2,000 rpm buzz some owners notice.
