Description

Superchargers and turbos make boost, but they also make heat, and a heat-soaked engine gives back the power you paid for. The Active Autowerke methanol-water injection kit for the E46 323i, 325i, 328i, 330i and M3 cools the intake charge to fight that heat soak, and the mix raises the knock limit as a safeguard against detonation at high boost.

This is a model-specific kit for the E46, not a generic universal system.

What It Does

Its own electronic module monitors boost pressure and meters the methanol-water mix to match engine load and demand, and the settings can be adjusted later if your setup changes. The reservoir sits in the trunk, as far from engine and exhaust heat as it can be, so the fluid is not heated before it is used. Active Autowerke tested the system on its own 500+ hp turbo and supercharged cars.

Materials and Construction

A 1.8+ gallon reservoir with an inline filter and low pickup tube sits on a rigid mount with spring-loaded quick releases, so it can be removed easily. A high-volume pump suited to methanol feeds the nozzle, and the hose and wiring run inside protective sleeving.
