Overview

The Active Autowerke Performance rear exhaust Gen 2 replaces the factory rear muffler on the BMW F30 340i sedan and the F32 and F33 440i coupe and convertible, including xDrive cars. Rather than a full system, Active Autowerke built a compact rear section that brings out the B58 sound and saves weight.

Gen 2 is built to work with the factory valve: when the ECU opens it, the sound gets noticeably louder and deeper, and when it closes the car stays civil on the highway.

What It Does

The factory rear muffler is heavy and heavily baffled. Swapping it for this freer design gives the B58 a fuller, sportier tone and cuts weight at the very back of the car. It bolts to the factory exhaust ahead of it.

Materials and Construction

Brushed 304 stainless steel with adjustable double-walled tips that carry an embossed Active Autowerke logo. Active Autowerke says it weighs 22 lb against 27 lb for the factory part, and it comes with a two-year warranty. Choose brushed, black or carbon tips.

Does it fit the 440i Gran Coupe?
No. Active Autowerke says it does not fit the 440 Gran Coupe.

Do the factory valves still work?
Yes. Gen 2 uses the factory valve system.

Does the tip finish change the price?
Yes. Carbon fiber tips cost more than brushed or black.

Shipping & returns

Shipping: Orders ship via UPS, FedEx or USPS, from our facility near Los Angeles or directly from the manufacturer. Rates for many items are weight-based and shown at checkout. If you need it by a certain date, text us before you order.

Returns: Unused items in brand-new condition and original packaging can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date, with a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases we can offer a lower fee with the balance as store credit. Shipping charges aren't refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent.

Not returnable: special-order or custom items, and anything that has been installed, modified or altered.

Cancellations: free if the item is out of stock or we miss the ETA you agreed to. Other cancellations carry a 5% processing fee to cover card fees we can't recover. Special-order items can't be cancelled.

Damaged in transit? Report it to the carrier and to us within 48 hours, keep all packaging, and don't send anything back without our written approval.
