Overview

The Active Autowerke Performance rear exhaust Gen 2 replaces the factory rear muffler on the BMW F22 M235i coupe and F23 convertible. It is a compact, valved rear section with 90 mm brushed tips that gives the N55 a fuller sound and drops weight off the back of the car.

Gen 2 is built to work with the factory valve: when the ECU opens it, the sound gets noticeably louder and deeper, and when it closes the car stays civil on the highway.

What It Does

Active Autowerke chose a rear section instead of a full system, so it bolts to the factory exhaust and is simple to install. Expect a deeper tone at full throttle with the valve open and a manageable sound when it closes.

Materials and Construction

Brushed 304 stainless steel with adjustable double-walled tips that carry an embossed Active Autowerke logo. Active Autowerke says it weighs 22 lb against 27 lb for the factory part, and it comes with a two-year warranty. This page is the brushed-tip version.
