Overview

The AMS Performance R35 GT-R Billet Flywheel (part number ALP.07.03.0011-1) replaces the factory two-piece flywheel and reluctor ring with a one-piece part machined from billet 4140 chromoly steel. AMS says it was the first aftermarket GT-R flywheel with an integrated sensor ring, so you no longer reuse the factory ring.

The factory flywheel is known to crack and spider out from the crank hub at high power, which can end in a catastrophic failure. Through its championship racing program AMS found that this billet flywheel does not crack, and a proprietary heat treatment adds strength.

The chromoly material also changes the harmonics of the rotating assembly, which helps stop fretting between the flywheel and the crankshaft. AMS recommends ARP2000 flywheel bolts torqued to 140 ft-lb with red Loctite, and says not to reuse the factory spacer.
