Overview

The AMS "Widemouth" Downpipe (part number AMS.04.05.0001-1) replaces both the factory O2 housing and the downpipe on the 2008-2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. The factory turbine outlet hugs the back of the turbo and necks down to about 2.25" right where the wastegate flow joins the main exhaust stream. That tight, turbulent junction becomes a major source of backpressure once the car is making more power.

Rather than squeeze a fabricated tube into that small space, AMS designed a cast O2 housing in CAD that uses the full three-dimensional space behind the turbo. The result is a higher-volume, straighter path from the turbine housing into a full 3" downpipe. AMS measured gains of more than 15 wheel horsepower over stock, and the design flows enough for anything from a stock turbo to the largest upgrades.

The entire part, including the flex section and flanges, is 304 stainless steel, so there is no thin tubing to crack from engine movement. It bolts to the factory catalytic converter, includes a wideband O2 bung with a plug, and comes with every gasket and piece of hardware needed.

Yes. It bolts to the factory catalytic converter.

Yes. AMS designed it to flow enough for stock turbos and for the largest upgraded turbos.

Do I need a tune?
A tune is recommended to get the most from the improved flow.

Returns: Unused items in brand-new condition and original packaging can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date, with a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases we can offer a lower fee with the balance as store credit. Shipping charges aren't refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent.
