AMS Alpha Billet Deep Wet Sump Oil Pan | 2009-2024 Nissan GT-R R35

The AMS Performance Alpha R35 GT-R VR38 CNC Deep Wet Sump Oil Pan (part number ALP.07.04.0024-1) fixes an oiling problem AMS found in big bore, stroker and high-rpm VR38 engines. At high rpm the air in the crankcase becomes turbulent enough to aerate the oil, the oil pump pickup ingests bubbles and oil pressure drops, which can damage bearings over time.

A dry sump is the ultimate fix but costs far more and adds complexity. The Alpha pan is the next best solution: a 100% billet aluminum pan with a pickup extension that sits deep enough to get below the aerated oil, adds 1.5 quarts of capacity and increases thermal mass for cooler oil.

It does not hang below the subframe, so it stays protected from road debris. The innermost layer of the factory undertray is trimmed slightly and the undertray reinstalled; 2015 models require full trimming of the undertray, exposing the pan. Installation is easiest with the engine out, but it can be done in the car by unbolting the mounts and raising the engine.
