AWE ColdFront Intercooler for 2018-2024 Audi S4, S5 B9 3.0T

Heat is the enemy of the B9 Audi S4 and S5. The 3.0T V6 makes its boost with a single turbo nestled in the hot vee, and as soon as you start stacking pulls, or add a tune, the factory intercooler heat-soaks and the ECU quietly pulls timing. The AWE ColdFront™ Intercooler is AWE's answer: a direct bolt-on front-mount core with a 130% larger frontal area and 83% more internal volume than the factory B9 intercooler, so charge air stays cool and power stays consistent from the first run to the last.

The core uses an efficient bar-and-plate design, the strongest and most heat-tolerant layout for a street and track intercooler, fed by cast aluminum end tanks with integrated internal baffling that spread flow evenly across every row. AWE designed the tanks in CAD and validated them with CFD, then TIG welds and pressure tests every assembly in-house before it ships.

In AWE's 0-140 mph test on its AWD dyno, intake air temperatures on the factory intercooler climbed to 211°F, while the ColdFront™ held them under 115°F with a consistent slope through the whole run. The ColdFront™ sits securely behind the stock crash bar, reuses the factory hoses and clamps, and has no effect on the radiator or A/C system, so the install is a bolt-on job with the front bumper removed.

Do I need a tune?
No. The ColdFront™ helps a stock car hold power in the heat, and it gives tuned cars the cooling margin to run higher boost safely.

What does the install involve?
The front bumper comes off and three small tabs on a plastic retainer are trimmed, per AWE's instructions. The core reuses the factory hoses and clamps and sits behind the stock crash bar.

Does it fit the 2020-2024 facelift cars?
Yes. It fits B9 and B9.5 S4 and S5 models with the 3.0T V6, including the S5 Sportback and Cabriolet.

Is it street legal?
AWE sells the ColdFront™ for racing use only and states it may not be used on public roads in the US.

Fitment Notes

• Fits the 2018-2024 Audi S4 sedan and S5 Coupe, Cabriolet and Sportback (B9 and B9.5) with the 3.0T V6. It does not fit the B8 S4/S5, the RS 5, or 2025+ models. For the A4 or A5 2.0T, call us before ordering.
