Overview

The single-turbo 3.0T V6 in the B9 Audi SQ5 makes strong power, but the factory intercooler is small for a heavy SUV, especially once you add a tune or tow, climb or drive hard on hot days. The AWE ColdFront™ Intercooler is a direct replacement that gives the SQ5 a 130% increase in frontal surface area and an 83% increase in volume over the factory unit.

The ColdFront™ pairs a robust bar-and-plate aluminum core with cast aluminum end tanks that use integrated internal baffling to spread flow evenly across the core. AWE designed it in CAD and validated it with CFD testing, then TIG welds and pressure tests every assembly in-house before it leaves the facility. All-aluminum construction maximizes heat transfer.

Whether you run stock boost or more, keeping intake air temperature low and pressure drop to a minimum keeps output consistent as outside temperatures rise and gives you the safety margin to push harder. The ColdFront™ fits securely behind the stock crash bar as a pure bolt-on, needs no cutting, reuses the factory hoses and clamps, and has no effect on the OE radiator or A/C system.

Is cutting required?
No. AWE states there is no cutting required, and the intercooler reuses the factory hoses and clamps.

Do I need a tune?
No. It helps a stock SQ5 stay consistent in the heat, and it gives tuned cars cooling margin for higher boost.

Shipping & returns

Shipping: Orders ship via UPS, FedEx or USPS, from our facility near Los Angeles or directly from the manufacturer. Rates for many items are weight-based and shown at checkout. If you need it by a certain date, text us before you order.

Returns: Unused items in brand-new condition and original packaging can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date, with a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases we can offer a lower fee with the balance as store credit. Shipping charges aren't refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent.

Not returnable: special-order or custom items, and anything that has been installed, modified or altered.

Cancellations: free if the item is out of stock or we miss the ETA you agreed to. Other cancellations carry a 5% processing fee to cover card fees we can't recover. Special-order items can't be cancelled.

Damaged in transit? Report it to the carrier and to us within 48 hours, keep all packaging, and don't send anything back without our written approval.
