Overview

The S58 twin-turbo inline-six in the F97 X3 M and F98 X4 M is one of the best-sounding engines BMW has built, but the factory resonated center section keeps most of that character hidden under the car. The AWE Non-Resonated Performance Mid Pipe replaces the stock resonators with a clean, straight-through design and a bespoke X-pipe that AWE developed specifically for this platform.

The X-pipe merges and balances the pulses from both banks of the exhaust, sharpening the S58 into a crisp, refined note instead of a raspy drone. AWE engineered the mid pipe as part of its modular F9X Exhaust Suite: it works seamlessly with the factory axle-back, and it is designed to pair with the AWE SwitchPath™ axle-back, which retains full factory valve control and uses 180 Technology® to cancel cabin drone.

Because it maintains the OEM break point, installation is a straightforward bolt-in swap in place of the factory mid section. AWE measured maximum gains of 9 hp and 2 lb-ft of torque at the wheels with the axle-back and mid pipes installed together. Every mid pipe is handcrafted in-house by AWE and backed by AWE's Perfect Fitment Guarantee, No Check Engine Light Guarantee and lifetime exhaust warranty.

Do I need the AWE axle-back?
No. The mid pipe works with the factory axle-back, and it is also designed to pair with the AWE SwitchPath™ axle-back.

Will it be louder than stock?
Yes. Removing the factory resonators adds volume and a sharper tone; the X-pipe keeps the note refined rather than raspy.

Does it fit the X3 M40i or X4 M40i?
No. It is for the S58-powered X3 M and X4 M, including Competition models.

Shipping: Orders ship via UPS, FedEx or USPS, from our facility near Los Angeles or directly from the manufacturer. Rates for many items are weight-based and shown at checkout. If you need it by a certain date, text us before you order.

Returns: Unused items in brand-new condition and original packaging can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date, with a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases we can offer a lower fee with the balance as store credit. Shipping charges aren't refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent.

Not returnable: special-order or custom items, and anything that has been installed, modified or altered.

Cancellations: free if the item is out of stock or we miss the ETA you agreed to. Other cancellations carry a 5% processing fee to cover card fees we can't recover. Special-order items can't be cancelled.

Damaged in transit? Report it to the carrier and to us within 48 hours, keep all packaging, and don't send anything back without our written approval.
