Overview

The B58 straight-six in the G20 BMW M340i is one of the best engines BMW has built in years, but the factory exhaust plays it safe, and the speakers do a lot of the talking. AWE's Non-Resonated Touring Edition Exhaust for the 2020-2026 M340i and M340i xDrive gives the six a real voice of its own: a full, clean tone on throttle that settles down once you are cruising on the highway.

The secret is AWE's patented 180 Technology. Instead of baffles or packing, the rear mufflers cancel the narrow band of frequencies that cause cabin drone, so the car stays calm at a steady cruise without dulling the sound everywhere else. The non-resonated layout is AWE's recommendation for cars running the factory downpipe, since it lets more of the B58's character through. The design flows 65% more than stock, and AWE measured gains of up to 16 hp and 12 lb-ft at the wheels on stock software.

Each system is handcrafted by AWE in the USA from 3-inch CNC mandrel-bent, U.S.-made .065-inch wall T304L stainless steel. A mid-pipe inlet adapter lets it work with the factory downpipe or an aftermarket downpipe with an 80mm outlet. Choose the version that reuses your OE tips, or one with quad 4-inch double-walled slash-cut tips in Chrome Silver or Diamond Black. AWE backs it with Perfect Fitment and No CEL guarantees plus a lifetime warranty. If you already run an aftermarket downpipe, the Resonated Touring Edition is the better match.

Frequently Asked Questions

Resonated or Non-Resonated?
AWE suggests the Non-Resonated version for a stock downpipe and the Resonated version for an aftermarket downpipe, which is already louder.

Does it drone on the highway?
No. The 180 Technology rear mufflers are tuned to cancel drone at cruise.

Will it fit my M340i with an aftermarket downpipe?
Yes, if the downpipe has an 80mm outlet. AWE includes a mid-pipe inlet adapter for the stock downpipe and 80mm aftermarket units.

Is it street legal?
AWE lists this system as 50 State Legal because it does not tamper with any emissions control or monitoring devices; it bolts on behind the catalytic converters. AWE does not publish a CARB Executive Order number for it, and local sound limits vary, so check the rules where you drive.

Fitment Notes

  • Fits U.S.-market 2020-2026 BMW M340i and M340i xDrive sedans (G20, B58 3.0L turbo).
  • AWE does not approve its G2X M340i / M440i exhausts for Gran Coupe (G26) vehicles.
  • M440i coupe and convertible owners: we list the same system separately for those cars.
  • Direct bolt-on with no cutting, per AWE. A mid-pipe inlet adapter suits the stock downpipe or aftermarket downpipes with 80mm outlets.

Shipping: Orders ship via UPS, FedEx or USPS, from our facility near Los Angeles or directly from the manufacturer. Rates for many items are weight-based and shown at checkout. If you need it by a certain date, text us before you order.

Returns: Unused items in brand-new condition and original packaging can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date, with a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases we can offer a lower fee with the balance as store credit. Shipping charges aren't refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent.

Not returnable: special-order or custom items, and anything that has been installed, modified or altered.

Cancellations: free if the item is out of stock or we miss the ETA you agreed to. Other cancellations carry a 5% processing fee to cover card fees we can't recover. Special-order items can't be cancelled.

Damaged in transit? Report it to the carrier and to us within 48 hours, keep all packaging, and don't send anything back without our written approval.
