AWE Performance Cat-Back Exhaust for 2010-2014 Volkswagen GTI Mk6

The AWE Performance Exhaust is the cat-back AWE built for the 2010-2014 Volkswagen GTI, and it remains one of the most proven ways to give a Mk6 a proper voice. AWE describes its exhausts as having a Jekyll and Hyde personality: settled and grown-up when you are cruising, then sharp and eager the moment you put your foot down. On the Mk6 GTI that translates to a deeper idle, a crisp rasp through the mid range and no harsh boom once you settle into highway speed.

AWE sized the system at 2.5 inches on purpose. Its first 2.0T prototypes were 3-inch, but AWE found the bigger pipe cost low-rpm torque without giving much back at the top end, so the production exhaust keeps the gas speed that a small turbo four needs. The piping starts at the factory downpipe and runs back through a center muffler and the rear mufflers to twin 102mm tips, one at each corner of the bumper just like the factory layout.

Every bend is mandrel formed from .065-inch wall T304 stainless steel, with stainless internals inside the mufflers and resonator, stainless MIG and TIG welds and stainless band clamps. Multiple slip joints let you line the system up perfectly. The double-walled tips carry an etched AWE logo and are available in Chrome Silver or Diamond Black.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it fit the Mk6 Golf R or Golf TDI?
No. It is built around the Mk6 GTI rear bumper and 2.0T exhaust layout. The Golf R and other Golf models use different exhausts.

Why 2.5-inch and not 3-inch?
AWE tested 3-inch prototypes first and found they lost low-rpm torque on the 2.0T with very little gain up top, so the production system is 2.5-inch.

Will it work with an aftermarket downpipe?
Yes. It mates to the factory downpipe and to any downpipe built to the factory connection, including AWE's own.

Is it street legal?
It replaces only the piping behind the catalytic converter and does not alter emissions equipment. AWE does not publish a CARB Executive Order number for it, and local sound rules vary, so check the rules where you drive.

Do I need a tune?
No. It bolts on and AWE guarantees no check engine light.

Fitment Notes

• Fits the US-market 2010-2014 Volkswagen GTI (Mk6) with the 2.0T engine, manual or DSG, 2-door or 4-door. It does not fit the Mk6 Golf R, Golf TDI, Jetta or the 2015+ Mk7 GTI.
