AWE Performance Intercoolers for 2010-2012 Porsche 911 Turbo 997.2

The 997.2 Turbo's direct-injected 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six makes huge power with modest tuning, but the factory intercoolers were not sized for it. While developing its 750R turbo package for the 997.2TT, AWE saw intake air temperatures climb far too high, and with no OEM upgrade available, it built a completely new intercooler system for power goals well north of 700 hp.

AWE designed and cast its own end tanks, machined them on its CNC mill, welded them to purpose-built cores, then power tested and refined the package on its AWD dyno. The bar-and-plate cores are 37% larger than stock, 422 cubic inches versus 308, and are built to AWE's own charge row and fin count specs for lower intake temperatures and less pressure drop, all with very little trimming needed to fit.

The kit also uses 6-ply silicone hoses with gentle bends that resist bursting under boost, reinforced with Nomex braiding rather than common polyester. Stainless steel high-force T-bolt clamps secure every joint, and a molded lip where the hoses meet the turbos imitates the factory locking design. With a big turbo kit, AWE measured max gains of 23 hp and 17 lb-ft.

Do I need a tune?
No, but the extra cooling capacity matters most on tuned and big-turbo cars where stock intercoolers run out of headroom.

Is cutting required?
AWE notes very little trimming is involved for cores this size.

Does it fit the Turbo S?
Yes. It fits the 997.2 Turbo and Turbo S.
