Overview

Intake air temperature is a major concern on any turbocharged car, and many modified 996 Turbos now make far more than factory power, well past what the stock intercooling system was built to handle. Capable of supporting well over 700 hp, the AWE 996TT Performance Intercoolers are a properly engineered upgrade for owners who want their Mezger flat-six to stay cool and consistent.

AWE designed its cast end tanks with CAD and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) software to ensure even flow distribution through the tanks and cores, then tested the intercoolers extensively on its in-house dyno, on the street and on track. The bar-and-plate cores are 37% larger than stock, 422 cubic inches versus 308, and in AWE testing improved intake temperatures by 55°F and reduced pressure drop through the core by 1 psi, with very little trimming needed.

The kit includes 6-ply silicone hoses with gentle curves to resist bursting under boost, reinforced with Nomex braiding instead of common polyester. For OE-level reliability, AWE uses CNC-machined, factory-style aluminum connections to join the hoses to the factory Y-pipe.

Shipping & returns

Shipping: Orders ship via UPS, FedEx or USPS, from our facility near Los Angeles or directly from the manufacturer. Rates for many items are weight-based and shown at checkout. If you need it by a certain date, text us before you order.

Returns: Unused items in brand-new condition and original packaging can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date, with a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases we can offer a lower fee with the balance as store credit. Shipping charges aren't refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent.

Not returnable: special-order or custom items, and anything that has been installed, modified or altered.

Cancellations: free if the item is out of stock or we miss the ETA you agreed to. Other cancellations carry a 5% processing fee to cover card fees we can't recover. Special-order items can't be cancelled.

Damaged in transit? Report it to the carrier and to us within 48 hours, keep all packaging, and don't send anything back without our written approval.
