The AWE SwitchPath Cat-Back Exhaust for the 2018-2023 BMW M5 F90 gives the S63 twin-turbo V8 two personalities in one system. Its valved rear sections respond to the exhaust valve commands sent by your BMW ECU, so the sound follows your driving mode: choose Comfort for quiet early mornings in the neighborhood and Sport when you want the full SwitchPath voice. The factory console exhaust button keeps working, too.

This full cat-back version replaces everything from the catalytic converters back: two inlet tubes, a precision-engineered AWE X-pipe, axle tubes and valved rear sections. It is a pure bolt-on with factory-like simplicity and no cutting. AWE measured peak gains of 4 hp and 4 lb-ft, and maximum gains of 22 hp and 18 lb-ft at the wheels, with a 17 lb weight saving over stock.

Do I have to cut anything?
No. The SwitchPath cat-back is a pure bolt-on. Only the axle-back version requires cutting the factory exhaust.

Can I switch to Track Edition later?
Yes. AWE offers a SwitchPath-to-Track Conversion Kit for the F90 M5 that swaps the valved rear sections for unvalved Track Edition sections.

Do I need a tune?
No. AWE guarantees no check engine light.

Is it street legal?
AWE lists this system as 50 State Legal because it does not tamper with any emissions control or monitoring devices; it bolts on behind the catalytic converters. AWE does not publish a CARB Executive Order number for it, and local sound limits vary, so check the rules where you drive.
