AWE Touring Edition Exhaust for 2012-2020 BMW 328i / 330i / 428i / 430i (F3X), Diamond Black Tips

The AWE Touring Edition Exhaust for the F3X 328i, 330i, 428i and 430i gives BMW's turbocharged four-cylinder cars a richer, more purposeful voice without the drone that wears on you during a daily commute. It is an axle-back system that keeps the factory exit layout: two 80mm double-walled Diamond Black tips sit on the left side of the bumper, just where BMW put the stock outlets, so there is no bumper trimming involved.

The secret to its manners is AWE's 180 Technology. Exhaust gas passes through ports into tuned reflection chambers inside the AWE resonator, and the reflected sound waves rejoin the main flow 180 degrees out of phase, cancelling the frequencies that cause cabin drone. The rest of the path is straight-through 3-inch tubing, which AWE credits with up to 13 hp and 13 lb-ft at the crank on the 328i and 428i.

It covers both four-cylinder engines of the era, the N20/N26 in the 328i and 428i and the B48 in the 330i and 430i, in sedan, Sports Wagon, coupe and convertible form, with or without xDrive.

AWE handcrafts the system in-house from 3-inch U.S.-sourced, CNC mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel. Installation connects to the factory mid pipe after cutting it at BMW's marked service point, and AWE backs the exhaust with its Perfect Fitment guarantee, No Check Engine Light guarantee and lifetime warranty.

Do I need to cut the bumper?
No. This version uses the factory single-side exit; only the quad-tip version needs bumper trimming.

Is any cutting required?
Yes. The factory mid pipe is cut at its marked factory point (the dimple), where the AWE axle-back connects.

Does it fit the 340i or 440i?
No. AWE makes separate systems for the six-cylinder cars.

Is it street legal?
AWE lists this system as 50 State Legal because it does not tamper with any emissions control or monitoring devices; it bolts on behind the catalytic converters. AWE does not publish a CARB Executive Order number for it, and local sound limits vary, so check the rules where you drive.

• Axle-back: requires cutting the factory mid pipe at its marked factory cut point (the dimple). Mid pipe not included; not guaranteed to mate with other brands' mid pipes.
• Cut the factory mid pipe at BMW's marked cut point (the dimple), then clamp the AWE axle-back in place on the factory hangers, per AWE. No bumper trimming and no tune.
