Overview

The S55 inline-six in the F80 M3 and F82 M4 is a ferocious engine, and AWE's second-generation exhaust makes it sound great again. The Track Edition is the rowdy option: a non-valved cat-back that delivers a raw, clean S55 tone without the rasp.

A precision-engineered X-pipe unlocks the S55's best sound, while the 3-inch CNC mandrel-bent layout improves flow. AWE measured maximum gains of 12 hp and 16 lb-ft at the wheels. Because the Track Edition removes the factory valves, it comes complete with AWE's machined mechanical valve simulators, so there are no warning lights. The cat-back design keeps all catalysts in place.

AWE handcrafts the system in-house from U.S.-sourced .065-inch wall T304L stainless steel and finishes it with 4-inch double-walled, slash-cut tips in Chrome Silver or Diamond Black. It carries AWE's No Check Engine Light and Perfect Fitment guarantees and the AWE Lifetime Exhaust Warranty. If you prefer factory valve control and the M button, AWE's SwitchPath version keeps it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I get a valve fault light?
No. AWE includes machined mechanical valve simulators with the Track Edition.

Does it fit the M4 convertible and M4 CS?
Our sources list the 2015-2020 M4, including the 2019-2020 M4 CS. Please call to confirm a convertible before ordering.

Can I keep factory valve control?
Not with the Track Edition. AWE’s SwitchPath version keeps factory valving and M button control.

Is it street legal?
AWE lists this system as 50 State Legal because it does not tamper with any emissions control or monitoring devices; it bolts on behind the catalytic converters. AWE does not publish a CARB Executive Order number for it, and local sound limits vary, so check the rules where you drive.

Fitment Notes

  • Fits U.S.-market 2015-2018 BMW M3 (F80) and 2015-2020 BMW M4 (F82/F83), including the 2019-2020 M4 CS.
  • Not for the G80/G82 M3/M4 or non-M 3/4 Series. Please call to confirm fitment before ordering.
  • Bolts to the factory hangers and mounts with no cutting, per AWE. No tune required.
  • AWE does not accept returns of the Track Edition for sound preference, so please listen to the clip above before ordering.

Shipping & returns

Shipping: Orders ship via UPS, FedEx or USPS, from our facility near Los Angeles or directly from the manufacturer. Rates for many items are weight-based and shown at checkout. If you need it by a certain date, text us before you order.

Returns: Unused items in brand-new condition and original packaging can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date, with a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases we can offer a lower fee with the balance as store credit. Shipping charges aren't refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent.

Not returnable: special-order or custom items, and anything that has been installed, modified or altered.

Cancellations: free if the item is out of stock or we miss the ETA you agreed to. Other cancellations carry a 5% processing fee to cover card fees we can't recover. Special-order items can't be cancelled.

Damaged in transit? Report it to the carrier and to us within 48 hours, keep all packaging, and don't send anything back without our written approval.
