The Mk7 Volkswagen Golf R pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four with 4Motion all-wheel drive, and it is one of the most capable hot hatches VW has built. The factory exhaust is valved and polite, though, and it hides much of the engine's character. AWE's Track Edition Exhaust for the 2015-2017 Golf R is the unleashed option for owners who want that character every time they drive.
The Track Edition is a clean, straight-through cat-back with no valves. It is permanently open, so it is loud and raw from cold start to redline, with a motorsport tone that suits track days and spirited canyon runs. The Mk7 Golf R in particular responds well to the freer flow. If you would rather switch between quiet and loud, AWE's valved SwitchPath Exhaust is the other path for this car.
AWE designs, engineers and manufactures the system in house from CNC mandrel-bent 3-inch and 2.5-inch U.S.-sourced .065-inch wall T304L stainless steel. It is a direct bolt-on for factory-like simplicity and finishes with four 4-inch (102mm) double-walled, slash-cut tips in Chrome Silver or Diamond Black, selectable on this listing. How loud is the Track Edition?
Very. It has no valves or mufflers to quiet it, so it is always open. Choose the SwitchPath Exhaust if you want a quiet mode.
Do I need a tune?
No. It is a direct bolt-on that works on stock software.
Does it fit the Mk7.5 Golf R?
No. AWE makes a separate system for that generation. Please call to confirm fitment before ordering.
Is it street legal?
AWE lists this system as 50 State Legal because it does not tamper with any emissions control or monitoring devices; it bolts on behind the catalytic converters. AWE does not publish a CARB Executive Order number for it, and local sound limits vary, so check the rules where you drive.

- Fits U.S.-market 2015-2017 Volkswagen Golf R (2.0T, 4Motion), manual or DSG.
- Not for the Golf GTI or other Golf models.

Shipping & returns
Shipping: Orders ship via UPS, FedEx or USPS, from our facility near Los Angeles or directly from the manufacturer. Rates for many items are weight-based and shown at checkout. If you need it by a certain date, text us before you order.
Returns: Unused items in brand-new condition and original packaging can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date, with a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases we can offer a lower fee with the balance as store credit. Shipping charges aren't refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent.
Not returnable: special-order or custom items, and anything that has been installed, modified or altered.
Cancellations: free if the item is out of stock or we miss the ETA you agreed to. Other cancellations carry a 5% processing fee to cover card fees we can't recover. Special-order items can't be cancelled.
Damaged in transit? Report it to the carrier and to us within 48 hours, keep all packaging, and don't send anything back without our written approval.
