Brembo Big Brake Kits for BMW E36 3 Series (1992-1998)

This page lists every Brembo big brake kit we offer for the E36 BMW 318i, 325i and 328i from 1992 to 1998. You can choose a GT 4-piston front kit on 320mm 1-piece discs, GT 4- and 6-piston front kits on 355mm 2-piece discs, and a GT 2-piston rear kit on 294mm 1-piece discs. The E36 is a light, balanced rear-drive chassis that remains a favorite for track days, spec racing and street builds, and its factory brakes are small by modern standards.

Brembo lists the same kits for the 318i, 325i and 328i. The 320mm 1-piece front kit is the budget option, but it requires a modification to the OEM steering knuckle. The 355mm 2-piece kits do not carry that note and give the most braking capacity. The E36 M3 is not covered on this page.

Choosing Your Kit

• Kit: Three front kits are listed first: a GT 4-piston kit on 320x28mm 1-piece discs, a GT 4-piston kit on 355x32mm discs, and a GT 6-piston kit on 355x32mm discs. Then comes one rear kit: a GT 2-piston kit on 294x19mm 1-piece discs. Each kit name gives the axle, the system (GT or PISTA), the piston count and the disc size.
• Finish: front GT 4-piston 320x28mm 1-piece kit: black and red; front GT 4-piston 355x32mm kit and rear GT 2-piston 294x19mm 1-piece kit: black, red, and silver; front GT 6-piston 355x32mm kit: black, red, silver, yellow, GT-S (black hard-anodized), and GT-R (billet-machined and nickel-plated). A finish that a kit does not offer cannot be selected for it.
• Disc Type: drilled discs suit street driving and give good wet-weather bite; Type 1 Slotted is a street and occasional-track disc; Type 3 Slotted is aimed at regular track days. Offered as follows: Drilled on the front GT 4-piston 320x28mm 1-piece kit; Drilled and Type 3 Slotted on the front GT 4-piston 355x32mm kit and front GT 6-piston 355x32mm kit; Drilled and Type 1 Slotted on the rear GT 2-piston 294x19mm 1-piece kit.

Specifications

GT kits: add the finish code to the base part number for the exact part: 1 black, 2 red, 3 silver, 5 yellow, 7 fluorescent yellow, S GT-S, R GT-R. Replacement and upgrade pads for these calipers are sold separately.

FAQ

Which kit needs knuckle modification?
Brembo notes that the 4-piston 320x28mm 1-piece front kit requires modification to the OEM steering knuckle. The 355mm front kits do not carry that note.

Does this fit the E36 M3?
No. Brembo lists these kits for the 318i, 325i and 328i only.

Should I add the rear kit?
The 2-piston rear kit on 294mm 1-piece discs balances a front upgrade and suits cars that see regular track use.

Will these kits fit my wheels?
Every big brake kit needs wheel clearance, and the 355mm kits need the most room on the E36. Send us your wheel size and offset and we will check them against Brembo's clearance data before you order.

Fitment Notes

Brembo lists all kits on this page for the 1992-1998 BMW 318i, 325i and 328i (E36). Brembo GT systems are designed for cars at original ride height. Raising the ride height is not compatible with the brake lines included in these systems. The GT-R 6-piston caliper needs different wheel clearance from the GT 6-piston caliper.
