Active Autowerke F87 M2 Competition Single Mid Pipe

The Active Autowerke single mid pipe swaps the restrictive dual-pipe factory section on the BMW F87 M2 Competition for one large merged pipe. This is the straight-pipe version, so it gives the loudest and most direct result of the single mid pipe options, and the Active Autowerke F-brace is included.

The S55 in the M2 Competition sends exhaust from two turbos through a factory mid pipe that keeps the banks apart, and the downpipes are different lengths. The result is the uneven, "dueling three-cylinders" sound many owners dislike, plus a restrictive path for the gases.

What It Does

Active Autowerke merges both banks into one pipe right after the downpipes. Joining the pulses in a single pipe cancels most of the buzzy tone and gives a deeper, throatier note. Less back pressure also means freer flow, and removing the second pipe saves weight over the factory part. It bolts to the stock rear muffler or an Active Autowerke rear section.

The kit includes the single mid pipe with straight connecting pipes and the Active Autowerke F-brace, which replaces the factory brace under the car. Active Autowerke offers the same mid pipe with resonated pipes (11-050R) for less rasp.

FAQ

Will it drone?
It is louder than stock, especially at full throttle. For less rasp, choose the resonated version, 11-050R.

Can I keep the stock rear muffler?
Yes. The video above shows it running with the factory rear muffler.

Single or equal length?
The single mid pipe is the simpler, lighter route. The equal length mid pipe evens out the banks for a smoother inline-six sound.
