GiroDisc 2-Piece Rear Rotors 2013-2018 Audi C7 S6, S7, RS7, D4 S8

The 4.0L twin-turbo V8 Audis of this era (C7 S6, S7 and RS7 and the D4 S8) share one rear rotor size. These Giro Disc 2-piece rear rotors are a direct replacement for the factory rear discs, taking mass off the rear axle while the floating iron rings handle repeated hard stops better than the one-piece stock disc.

How GiroDisc builds it

Each assembly is fully floating: a slotted iron ring rides on drive pins around a separate aluminum hat. The ring is machined from a proprietary high-carbon iron casting made to GiroDisc's own specification, which holds up better under hard use. Its 48 curved vanes act as a centrifugal pump, pulling air in through the hub to cool the rotor. GiroDisc makes the hats, rings and drive pins in-house in Bellingham, Washington, from domestically sourced material. The hat is 6061-T6 aluminum with a black anodized finish, and the high-strength alloy steel drive pins are cadmium plated against corrosion. Spring clips and Belleville washers give the ring race-ready float without rattling from loose hardware on the street.

Reusable hats

Because the hat is a separate part, you only replace the iron when it wears out. New GiroDisc rings (D2-187) bolt onto the hats you already have, which costs much less over time than buying complete rotors. Replace the rings at 20 mm minimum thickness, or sooner if a crack reaches the outer edge of the ring.

Why 352 mm and not 356 mm?

Audi lists the factory rear rotor at 356 mm, but that number is misleading. The flower-shaped factory disc only reaches 356 mm at the outer tips of its petals. The pad actually sits about 2 mm inside that edge, so GiroDisc sized its round ring at 352 mm to match where the pad contacts the rotor. You lose no swept area.
