GiroDisc titanium pad shields for the 1999-2025 BMW M3, Z4 M, Porsche 911 Carrera, 718, Cayman, Boxster, Cayman S,, Boxster S. The shields sit between the brake pad backing plate and the caliper pistons, where they block heat from moving into the pistons and brake fluid. Less heat in the fluid means less risk of a boiling, soft pedal late in a session.

Why titanium

Titanium is a poor conductor of heat, which is exactly what you want behind a brake pad. Relative thermal conductivity runs about 6.7 W/mK for 6Al-4V titanium, 52 W/mK for steel and 130 W/mK for aluminum. So a thin titanium shield passes far less heat into the pistons than the pad backing plate would on its own, which protects the fluid, seals and dust boots.

Cut to fit

GiroDisc water-jet cuts each shield to the exact outline of the pad shape, so there is no cutting or grinding at install. The shields sit between the pad backing plate and the pistons and go back in each time you change pads. For cars that see hard or repeated track days, they are inexpensive protection against a long pedal at the wrong moment.
