IPE Cat-Back Exhaust Porsche 718 Boxster Cayman 2.5T 982 2017-2026

The four-cylinder 718 Boxster and Cayman are known for strong handling and a flat, muted exhaust note. IPE's cat-back gives them a louder, more open voice with a Valvetronic muffler, and the same page lets you add a catted or catless downpipe and the optional OBD remote.

About IPE

IPE, short for Innotech Performance Exhaust, was founded in 1998 and builds exhausts for performance and supercar platforms. Its systems are handcrafted from T304 stainless steel and Grade 1 titanium and joined with TIG welding, which gives clean, strong welds on thin-wall tube. Material and build

• T304 stainless steel, handcrafted and TIG welded by IPE.
• Valvetronic muffler with actuated valves for a quiet mode and a louder open mode.
• Polished Silver tips are standard. Gold, Titanium Blue and Chrome Black tips are upgrades.

How the Valvetronic muffler works

With the valves closed, exhaust gas takes a smaller path, which keeps the car quiet around town and on the highway. With the valves open, the gas has a freer route out, and the car gets louder with a more open tone. IPE's systems offer On, Off and Auto modes. In Off mode the valves open on their own at 4,000 RPM as a safeguard.

Remote control and the optional OBD remote

Every system with the remote option comes with IPE's Bluetooth remote control module. You pick the mode from the remote, and it needs IPE's accelerator signal line installed and set up for Auto mode.

The optional OBD remote adds IPE's OBDII hand gesture sensor. It connects through the car's OBDII port and talks to the car over CAN, so you switch modes with a hand gesture. It works only if the car supports CAN communication and has no other OBD devices in the port. It is an add-on to the remote, not a replacement for it.

• Exhaust Tip Finish: Polished Silver is standard. Titanium Blue, Gold and Chrome Black each add $200.
• Optional Downpipe: Cat-Back Only, or add a catted or catless downpipe at the price shown.
• Optional OBD Remote: Stay with the standard remote, or add the OBDII sensor.

Good to know before you buy

• IPE's price list heads this fitment 718 Boxster, Boxster S, Boxster GTS 2.5T, Cayman, Cayman S and Cayman GTS 2.5T, with a note reading "With 718 GT4 Bodykit". Confirm your car's rear fascia before ordering.
• IPE says GTS models can keep the factory valve control system.
• IPE sells catted (200-cell) and catless downpipes for motorsport and track use only. A catless pipe can trigger a check engine light, and IPE does not cover that under warranty, so plan on an ECU tune.
• IPE gives a one-year limited warranty from the ship date. It does not cover wear items such as gaskets, springs and heat wrap, or damage from poor installation. Tips are decorative, so IPE does not accept appearance returns once they are installed.
