IPE Cat-Back Exhaust Volkswagen Golf R Mk8 2021+

The Mk8 Golf R and its EA888 Evo4 get a full T304 stainless cat-back from IPE that keeps the car's own valve control. You choose the tip finish, and the system uses the factory valve motors, so the car's drive modes still change the sound.

About IPE

IPE, short for Innotech Performance Exhaust, was founded in 1998 and builds exhausts for performance and supercar platforms. Its systems are handcrafted from T304 stainless steel and Grade 1 titanium and joined with TIG welding, which gives clean, strong welds on thin-wall tube. Material and build

• T304 stainless steel throughout the system, according to IPE.
• IPE lists the Mk8 R system as 5.7 kg (19.6%) lighter than the factory exhaust.
• Valvetronic muffler, operated by the car's original valve control.
• Chrome Silver tips are standard. Titanium Blue, Chrome Black and Carbon Fiber tips are upgrades.

How the Valvetronic muffler works

With the valves closed, exhaust gas takes a smaller path, which keeps the car quiet around town and on the highway. With the valves open, the gas has a freer route out, and the car gets louder with a more open tone. IPE's systems offer On, Off and Auto modes. In Off mode the valves open on their own at 4,000 RPM as a safeguard.

Valve control

The valves in this muffler are run by the factory valve control, so there is no remote or OBD option for this car. IPE does not supply valve motors with this system, so the motors from your stock exhaust are moved over during the install.

Good to know before you buy

• No IPE remote or OBD control is offered for this model.
• No downpipe options are listed for this model yet.
• IPE gives a one-year limited warranty from the ship date. It does not cover wear items such as gaskets, springs and heat wrap, or damage from poor installation. Tips are decorative, so IPE does not accept appearance returns once they are installed.
• Do not wash the tips with strong acid or harsh solvents. Light discoloration after heavy heat cycles is normal.
• Fitment follows IPE's price-list application. Confirm your car's configuration before ordering.
