If you drive the Golf R Variant (wagon), this is the IPE cat-back made for its longer body. It is a full T304 stainless system with a valved muffler, Chrome Silver tips as standard and a remote for the valves in the price.
About IPE
IPE (Innotech Performance Exhaust) has been building exhausts since 1998, with a focus on valved systems for performance cars. The company works in T304 stainless steel and Grade 1 titanium and TIG welds its pipework by hand. AutoTalent sells the IPE range for European, Japanese and American performance cars.
Material and build
- T304 stainless steel throughout the system, according to IPE.
- IPE lists the Variant system as 8.2 kg (25.5%) lighter than the factory exhaust.
- Valvetronic muffler with actuated valves for a quiet mode and a louder open mode.
- Chrome Silver tips are standard. Titanium Blue, Chrome Black and Carbon Fiber tips are upgrades.
How the Valvetronic muffler works
With the valves closed, exhaust gas takes a smaller path, which keeps the car quiet around town and on the highway. With the valves open, the gas has a freer route out, and the car gets louder with a more open tone. IPE's systems offer On, Off and Auto modes. In Off mode the valves open on their own at 4,000 RPM as a safeguard.
Remote control and the optional OBD remote
Every system with the remote option comes with IPE's Bluetooth remote control module. You pick the mode from the remote, and it needs IPE's accelerator signal line installed and set up for Auto mode.
The optional OBD remote adds IPE's OBDII hand gesture sensor. It connects through the car's OBDII port and talks to the car over CAN, so you switch modes with a hand gesture. It works only if the car supports CAN communication and has no other OBD devices in the port. It is an add-on to the remote, not a replacement for it.

- Exhaust Tip Finish: Chrome Silver is standard. Titanium Blue, Chrome Black and Carbon Fiber add to the price shown in the dropdown.
- Optional OBD Remote: Stay with the standard remote, or add the OBDII sensor.
Good to know before you buy
- IPE's own product page describes factory valve operation for this car and does not supply valve motors, while its price list shows a remote and OBD sensor. Confirm the control option with us before ordering.
- No downpipe options are listed for this model yet.
- IPE gives a one-year limited warranty from the ship date. It does not cover wear items such as gaskets, springs and heat wrap, or damage from poor installation. Tips are decorative, so IPE does not accept appearance returns once they are installed.
- Do not wash the tips with strong acid or harsh solvents. Light discoloration after heavy heat cycles is normal.
- Fitment follows IPE's price-list application. Confirm your car's configuration before ordering.

Returns Policy
If a product is ordered and not wanted, the UNUSED item can be returned for a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases, we may offer the ability to return the item to us for a lesser restocking fee and then keep the balance as a store credit. To return an item, it must be in brand new condition with original packaging.
We cannot accept a return on special ordered or custom items.
Shipping is non refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent. All items wanting to be return MUST be reported within 30 days of the original invoice date. No items will be returnable after 30 days. All products shipped from the AutoTalent facility are shipped via FedEx, USPS, or USPS. Some packages shipped from the manufacturer may or may not require signatures for package release.
Special Order Items
Some items may be special order specifically for the customer’s vehicle. These items generally require a deposit or paid in full. Once this deposit amount is notified to the customer and they agree to order the special order item, the deposit becomes non-refundable. These special order items cannot be returned or resold. Cancellations are not allowed on special order parts.
AutoTalent DOES NOT REFUND SHIPPING CHARGES. If you modify, install, or alter the item in any form, we cannot accept it as a return. We will not cover any expenses related to the product or installation, and you may be required to purchase a replacement.
** All cancellations that are requested that are NOT due to items not being in stock or delayed by the manufacturer are subject to a 5% processing fee. When you place an order with us we pay credit card fees that are NOT returned back to us. We will absorb these fees if we do not have the item in stock OR if you agree to the original ETA and that ETA is NOT met. If you decide to cancel for any other reason you will not receive this 5% fee back

We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.
