Overview

M-Engineering's ECU calibration for the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter 992.2 GT3 and GT3 Touring improves throttle response, removes the top speed limiter, and revises air/fuel ratios and ignition timing. M-Engineering has base ECU calibrations supporting both the GT3 and the GT3 Touring, so one product covers either body.

Installation is a bench procedure. The ECU is removed and sent to M-Engineering HQ, where it is flashed and returned; typical turnaround is about 24 hours after it arrives. These cars use the newer locked MG1 ECU, which M-Engineering says needs a longer workflow to unlock and flash, so plan for that extra downtime.

On-The-Fly Live Map Switching carries maps for ACN91 (Arizona, California and Nevada 91), 91 octane, 93 octane and 100 octane, with slot 5 reserved for engine safety. Detonation Defense watches for knock: when knock events pass a set threshold, the car is moved into map slot 5 within 20 milliseconds and held there for about 10 seconds. Stage 1 is written for stock headers and a stock exhaust, where an aftermarket muffler is fine; Stage 2 is for aftermarket headers and exhaust.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a bench flash or an OBD flash?
Bench. M-FLASH on the 992.2 GT3 requires the ECU to be sent to M-Engineering HQ. Typical turnaround is about 24 hours after it arrives, but the locked MG1 ECU takes a longer workflow to unlock and flash.

How much power will I gain?
M-Engineering does not state a power figure in the product text for the 992.2 GT3. It publishes wheel-horsepower dyno charts by fuel, so the gain depends on the stage, the octane and the hardware on your car.

What is Detonation Defense?
A safety strategy built into the calibration. If knock events go beyond a set threshold, the car switches into map slot 5 within 20 milliseconds and stays there for about 10 seconds before returning.
