VRSF 7.5in Stepped Race Intercooler, 335i, 135i | 2007-12

The VRSF 7.5-inch stepped race intercooler is the largest front mount VRSF makes for the E-chassis 135i and 335i. It is built for cars running upgraded twin turbos or a single turbo, and it is rated to support about 1,000 wheel horsepower. The kit fits N54 and N55 engines in the E90 sedan, E92 coupe and E93 convertible, the 335is and the E82 135i.

What It Does

At big boost levels the factory intercooler is overwhelmed almost immediately, and intake temperatures can climb dozens of degrees in a single pull. That heat costs power and pushes the engine toward knock. In VRSF testing on a 790 whp car running 35 psi on a 94-degree day, this core held the intake temperature rise to only 11 degrees across a full fourth-gear pull, and boost stayed steady through the rev range.

Materials and Construction

The ultra-high-density bar-and-plate core uses staggered, offset fins inside and out, and the stepped shape packs as much core as possible into the space behind the bumper. Cast aluminum end tanks were designed with flow modeling for even distribution across the core. Every unit is hand finished and pressure tested before it ships.

Fitment Notes

• The black plastic shroud behind the bumper must be trimmed. The bumper itself does not need trimming.
• For stock-turbo cars, the VRSF 5in or 7.5in Competition kits are a better match.
