FL5 Civic Type R Eventuri Intake vs Turbo Tube: Which Comes First?
FL5 Civic Type R Eventuri Intake vs Turbo Tube: Which Comes First?
For an FL5 Civic Type R running stock boost, the Eventuri intake is the first of these two upgrades to consider. The intake replaces the airbox, filter and the path leading to the turbo inlet. The separate carbon turbo tube replaces the metal inlet closer to the turbo. Eventuri says the factory FL5 turbo tube is not a restriction at stock boost levels, so buying the tube first is not the same as buying a complete intake.
The Eventuri FL5 carbon intake, EVE-FL5-CF-INT is the full airbox-and-filter system. The Eventuri FL5 carbon turbo tube, EVE-FL5-CF-CHG is a separate inlet upgrade. They work on different sections of the same airflow path.

Intake and turbo tube: two different jobs
Air travels through the filter and intake assembly before reaching the turbo inlet tube. The intake controls filtration, the airbox enclosure and the flow path into that inlet. The turbo tube carries air from the intake side to the turbocharger.
| Part | What it changes | Why you would choose it |
|---|---|---|
| EVE-FL5-CF-INT intake | Airbox, filter, carbon MAF tube and silicone joiner | A complete intake upgrade with a sealed enclosure and a smoother path than the factory flexible hose |
| EVE-FL5-CF-CHG turbo tube | Factory metal turbo inlet tube | A larger pre-turbo path for increased airflow demand, with carbon construction and thermal isolation at the turbo flange |
AutoTalent's turbo-tube listing uses "charge pipe" in its title. Eventuri calls this part the FL5 Carbon Turbo Tube. It sits before the turbo, so do not confuse it with the pressurized piping between the turbo and intercooler. Use the part number when ordering.
Why the intake comes first at stock boost
The FL5 intake sits behind the radiator. Eventuri uses a sealed carbon airbox to shield the filter from radiator, turbo and downpipe heat. It also replaces the factory flexible intake hose with a smooth path from the filter to the inlet tube.
The carbon MAF tube can move within the airbox while maintaining its seal. That allows engine movement without making the enclosure rigidly carry the movement of the intake path. This is an enclosure and airflow upgrade, rather than a decorative carbon cover placed over the stock airbox.
Eventuri reports a 14 hp and 15 lb-ft increase in its intake testing. The comparison used a standard car with the standard map and exhaust, with back-to-back runs on the same day and the hood closed. Those are the conditions behind the published result, not a fixed gain promised for every car.
The intake installation guide covers fitting with the OEM turbo tube. You do not have to add the separate carbon tube to install the intake. On a stock-boost car, that makes the intake the clearer first purchase if your goal is to change the airbox, filtration assembly and intake flow path.
When the separate carbon turbo tube makes sense
Eventuri's FL5 tube starts at a 78 mm internal diameter on the intake side and expands to 88 mm through its main body before tapering toward the turbo inlet. The factory tube starts at 76.5 mm and holds that diameter before tapering. The Eventuri tube therefore has over 32% more cross-sectional area at its largest point.
That is an area comparison, not a 32% horsepower claim. Eventuri states that the factory tube does not restrict the turbo at stock boost, and expects the larger tube to help when higher boost increases airflow demand. Its turbo-tube page does not currently publish a completed performance test.
The tube also uses a machined flange and a silicone coupler with an integrated thermal spacer. The spacer separates the carbon elbow from direct contact with the hot turbo flange. Together with the carbon tube's low heat conductivity, this is designed to reduce heat transfer into the airflow.
Choose the tube as part of a higher-boost build plan, or when you specifically want the carbon inlet and its thermal design. Do not buy it on the assumption that it includes an intake, or that adding it to the intake automatically adds another published horsepower figure.

What is included, and what is separate?
The EVE-FL5-CF-INT intake includes the carbon airbox enclosure, high-flow filter, carbon Venturi stack with integrated MAF tube, silicone joiner with breather inlets and bracket hardware. The installation reuses the car's MAF sensor.
The EVE-FL5-CF-CHG tube is a separate product. Eventuri lists a carbon turbo tube, CNC-machined turbo flange and custom turbo-side silicone coupler in that set. An engine cover is also separate. Some manufacturer photos show the intake, tube and engine cover together, but the photo is not a single bundled order.
Fitment and installation: order the FL5 parts
The EVE-FL5-CF-INT intake is the FL5 Civic Type R system. AutoTalent lists it for the 2023-2026 Honda Civic Type R with the 2.0-liter turbo engine. EVE-FL5-CF-CHG is Eventuri's matching FL5 carbon turbo tube. The FK8 intake and turbo-tube products are separate part numbers, even though Eventuri developed the FL5 design from its earlier FK8 work.
For installation, follow the Eventuri guide rather than treating this as a filter swap. It covers transferring the MAF sensor, protecting and routing its wiring, reconnecting the breather assembly, installing the airbox seals and securing the silicone joins. Eventuri specifically warns against overtightening clamps on carbon components.
Choose the upgrade for the build you have
Stock boost and a complete intake upgrade: start with the EVE-FL5-CF-INT intake. It changes the airbox and filter path, has a published test under stated conditions and installs with the stock turbo tube.
Higher boost and greater airflow demand: consider the EVE-FL5-CF-CHG tube alongside the intake as part of the build. Its larger geometry and thermal design address a different section of the path. Keep the intake result and the tube's design rationale separate.
Carbon appearance alone: decide whether you want the airbox, the inlet tube or both. An engine-bay photo showing all three carbon pieces does not mean the engine cover is included.
