Milltek downpipes open up the section of exhaust that restricts the most flow — everything between the turbo and the cat-back. The range covers two core options: large-bore catted downpipes with a Milltek Hi-Flow Sports Cat or HJS 200-cell catalyst, and large-bore decat versions intended for off-road use. Both are CNC-mandrel-bent T304L stainless with a wider bore than stock, which reduces turbo backpressure and measurably changes spool and mid-range response on most tuned platforms.

Two decisions shape which downpipe is right. First, the cat: the Hi-Flow Sports Cat and HJS variants keep a catalyst in line, throw fewer CEL issues than a full decat, and are easier to live with on street-driven cars. A full decat delivers the most flow and the biggest sound change but is labeled for track use and on most platforms requires a Stage 2 ECU tune to run without codes. Second, the fitment — some Milltek downpipes are designed to mate only to the Milltek cat-back, others are built for the OE cat-back. Each product page calls this out; worth checking before you order.

Fitment spans most of the turbocharged platforms Milltek covers, including Audi RS3 / S3 / S4 / RS6, Volkswagen Mk7 / Mk8 GTI and Golf R, BMW M240i / M3 / M4, Mercedes-AMG A45 / CLA45, Ford Fiesta ST / Focus ST, and Honda Civic Type R FL5 / FK8 with Acura Integra. For the full brand catalog, see the main Milltek page. Pairing a downpipe with a Milltek cat-back gives you a true turbo-back build and is the usual combo for Stage 2 tunes.

Milltek Downpipe FAQs

Do Milltek downpipes require a tune?

Catted downpipes with the Hi-Flow Sports Cat or HJS cat often run clean on stock tunes, depending on platform. Decat downpipes almost always require a Stage 2 ECU tune to avoid fault codes and run properly.

What's the difference between the Hi-Flow Sports Cat and HJS?

Milltek's Hi-Flow Sports Cat is Milltek's own high-flow catalyst. HJS is a German-made 200-cell catalyst used on select applications. Both flow substantially more than stock; HJS is typically chosen for its emissions consistency and longevity.

Will a Milltek downpipe fit my OE cat-back?

Some will, some won't. Each product page specifies whether it's designed for the Milltek cat-back, the OE cat-back, or both. Check before ordering.
