Active Autowerke G87 M2 Midpipe: EL Gen-2 Resonated

The Active Autowerke Gen-2 Signature equal length mid pipe with resonators replaces the factory mid section on the S58 BMW G87 M2. It is built on the equal length design Active Autowerke first developed for the F8X M cars and then the G80 M3 and G82 M4, which it protects with US patent 11248511 and UK and EU patent 3882441. This resonated version is the one Active Autowerke recommends for cars with aftermarket downpipes, and for stock-downpipe cars where any rasp is unwanted.

What It Does

BMW already uses a crossover after the short downpipe, but its driver-side run ends up longer than the passenger side. This mid pipe corrects the passenger-side length so both banks really are equal, which gives the M2 a smoother, more even note at high rpm. The Gen-2 resonators were developed with Active Autowerke's factories to take the rasp out of the tone with very little loss of volume. They also cut the 2,000 rpm buzz some owners dislike and quiet the factory cold-start rattle.

Materials and Construction

The system is 100% 304 brushed stainless steel. It installs with factory-style flanges and clamps and only two cuts in the stock mid pipe, so most owners can fit it at home, and the factory pipe can go back on later if needed. Active Autowerke's G87 brace is included.

• Fits the S58 BMW G87 M2. Active Autowerke has tested it with stock and Active Autowerke downpipes and rear exhausts, and does not guarantee results or fitment with other rear exhaust brands.

FAQ

Resonated or straight: which should I pick?
Choose the resonated version if you run aftermarket downpipes or want the rasp gone. The straight Gen-2 pipe is louder and rawer.

Is the install hard?
No. It needs only two cuts in the stock mid pipe and uses factory-style flanges and clamps.

Can I go back to stock?
Yes. The factory mid pipe can be reinstalled later if needed.
