Active Autowerke G87 M2 Exhaust: EL Resonated Bundle

The Active Autowerke EL Resonated bundle combines the two biggest sound upgrades for the S58 BMW G87 M2 in one order: the Active Autowerke valved rear axle-back exhaust and the patented Gen-2 equal length mid pipe with resonators. Bought together, they cost less than buying each part separately. Active Autowerke's view is that the M2's performance is excellent but its stock exhaust note is too muffled for an M car, and this pairing is its answer.

What It Does

Active Autowerke notes that the dramatic change in sound comes from replacing the mid pipe, while the rear section alone is a subtler upgrade, so this bundle does both. The equal length mid pipe corrects the factory crossover, where the driver-side run is longer than the passenger side, for a smoother high-rpm note. Its Gen-2 resonators remove rasp with little loss of volume and also cut the 2,000 rpm buzz and the cold-start rattle. The rear axle-back raises the sound level over stock and reuses the BMW valve actuators, so the factory valve control still works.

Materials and Construction

Both parts are 304 stainless steel. The mid pipe fits with factory-style flanges and clamps and only two cuts in the stock pipe, and it includes the Active Autowerke G87 brace. Each rear exhaust is test-fitted on Active Autowerke's in-house G87 fixture before shipping. Pick from four tip finishes: brushed stainless, matte black, carbon fiber, or carbon over black chrome.
