Active Autowerke GR Corolla GESI Catted Downpipe & Mid Pipe

The Active Autowerke GESI catted downpipe gives the Toyota GR Corolla a much freer path out of its turbo while keeping a catalytic converter in place. The GR Corolla shares its 1.6-liter turbocharged G16E-GTS three-cylinder with the GR Yaris, and in the GR Corolla it makes 300 hp. The factory downpipe is one of the main things holding it back. Active Autowerke built this piece after steady requests from its long-time customers who tune these cars.

What It Does

A turbo can only spin as fast as the exhaust behind it lets the gas escape. The stock downpipe is restrictive, so the turbo spools later and has to work harder. This downpipe opens up the first section after the turbo with 4.5-inch tubing, then narrows to 3 inches at a stainless flex joint to meet the factory exhaust. The result is quicker spool and more power and torque, and Active Autowerke says no performance tune is needed to run it.

Materials and Construction

The downpipe is TIG-welded from 304 stainless steel with a 1.5 mm wall, and the upper V-band is cast stainless for a precise fit at the turbo. The GESI G-Sport ultra high output converter uses a 400-cell stainless substrate that is furnace-brazed to its mantle for durability. It reaches working temperature within about 9 seconds of a cold start and withstands up to 1,500°F.
