What is a catted downpipe?

A catted downpipe replaces the factory downpipe with a larger, smoother pipe that still has a catalytic converter built in, usually a high-flow GESI, HJS or 100–200 cell metallic cat. It flows much better than stock while keeping a catalyst in the exhaust.

Catted vs catless downpipe: which should I buy?

For a street-driven car, choose a catted downpipe: it's quieter, avoids a raw-fuel smell and is easier to live with every day. A catless downpipe flows a little more and is louder, but it's sold for off-road and competition use only.

What is a high-flow catted downpipe?

A high-flow catted downpipe uses a lower-density cat (for example GESI or a 100–200 cell metallic core) instead of the dense factory catalyst, so the turbo sees less back-pressure while a catalyst stays in place.

100 cell vs 200 cell: what's the difference?

Cell count is the density of the catalyst core. A 100-cell cat flows more and is a little louder; a 200-cell cat is more restrictive but does more cleaning and tends to smell less. GESI cats are a high-flow design known for strong flow and durability.

Do I need a tune with a catted downpipe?

Yes, on almost every turbo car. A downpipe changes exhaust flow and the downstream O2 sensor readings, so pair it with a matching tune to avoid fault codes and get the full gain.
