Overview

The AMS Performance Heat Exchanger for the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 3.0t (part number ALP.28.02.0002-2, formerly the Red Alpha heat exchanger) is the front-mounted radiator for the VR30DDTT's air-to-water intercooler system. These cars cool the boosted air with coolant instead of a classic front-mount intercooler, and on a hot day, at the drag strip or during long high-speed pulls, the factory heat exchanger heat-soaks quickly and power drops.

AMS testing found that the factory unit also restricts coolant flow, which slows the whole intercooler loop. The AMS core is double the thickness of stock (22mm vs 11mm), holds 228% more fluid and flows far more coolant, so intake temperatures stay lower and the engine keeps making full power.

The motorsport-quality core is made in the UK and paired with CAD-designed CNC billet end tanks shaped with CFD heat-transfer software. It carries CARB EO D-825-4, bolts in without cutting, and installs in about 2-3 hours.

Why upgrade the heat exchanger?
The VR30 cools its intake air with coolant. A bigger heat exchanger removes more heat from that coolant, so intake temperatures and power stay consistent.

Is it legal in California?
Yes. It carries CARB EO D-825-4.

What else should I add?
AMS calls the auxiliary intercooler tank the next most important cooling upgrade.

Shipping: Orders ship via UPS, FedEx or USPS, from our facility near Los Angeles or directly from the manufacturer. Rates for many items are weight-based and shown at checkout. If you need it by a certain date, text us before you order.

Returns: Unused items in brand-new condition and original packaging can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date, with a 25% restocking fee unless otherwise specified. In some cases we can offer a lower fee with the balance as store credit. Shipping charges aren't refundable in either direction unless approved by AutoTalent.

Not returnable: special-order or custom items, and anything that has been installed, modified or altered.

Cancellations: free if the item is out of stock or we miss the ETA you agreed to. Other cancellations carry a 5% processing fee to cover card fees we can't recover. Special-order items can't be cancelled.

Damaged in transit? Report it to the carrier and to us within 48 hours, keep all packaging, and don't send anything back without our written approval.
