In the US the F85 X5 M was sold for the 2015-2018 model years, with a 567-horsepower twin-turbo V8 in an SUV that weighs well over 5,000 pounds. Repeated hard stops from high speed in an SUV this heavy put a lot of heat into the factory brakes, and a Brembo GT kit adds heat capacity and a firmer, more consistent pedal. A Brembo system replaces the caliper and disc on the axle you choose with a matched caliper, disc and pad package, sold as a complete axle set.

There are three front kits and two rear kits. On the front, two are GT 6-piston kits on 405x34mm two-piece discs in two caliper families (N and T), offered with drilled or Type 3 slotted discs, and the third is a GT 8-piston kit on 412x38mm two-piece drilled discs. On the rear, both kits are GT 4-piston kits on 380x28mm two-piece discs in two caliper families (P and S), offered with drilled, Type 1 slotted or Type 3 slotted discs. The N and P caliper kits come in black, red, silver, yellow, GT-S hard-anodized black or GT-R nickel-plated billet. The T, S and 8-piston kits come in black, red, yellow or fluorescent yellow.

Choosing Your Kit

• Kit: Three front kits are listed first: a GT 6-piston kit on 405x34mm discs (N caliper family), a GT 6-piston kit on 405x34mm discs (T caliper family), and a GT 8-piston kit on 412x38mm discs. Then come two rear kits: a GT 4-piston kit on 380x28mm discs (P caliper family) and a GT 4-piston kit on 380x28mm discs (S caliper family). Each kit name gives the axle, the system (GT or PISTA), the piston count and the disc size.
• Finish: front GT 6-piston 405x34mm kit (N caliper) and rear GT 4-piston 380x28mm kit (P caliper): black, red, silver, yellow, GT-S (black hard-anodized), and GT-R (billet-machined and nickel-plated); front GT 6-piston 405x34mm kit (T caliper), front GT 8-piston 412x38mm kit, and rear GT 4-piston 380x28mm kit (S caliper): black, red, yellow, and fluorescent yellow. A finish that a kit does not offer cannot be selected for it.
• Disc Type: drilled discs suit street driving and give good wet-weather bite; Type 1 Slotted is a street and occasional-track disc; Type 3 Slotted is aimed at regular track days. Offered as follows: Drilled and Type 3 Slotted on the front GT 6-piston 405x34mm kit (N caliper) and front GT 6-piston 405x34mm kit (T caliper); Drilled on the front GT 8-piston 412x38mm kit; Drilled, Type 1 Slotted, and Type 3 Slotted on the rear GT 4-piston 380x28mm kit (P caliper) and rear GT 4-piston 380x28mm kit (S caliper).

Which front kit should I choose?
The GT 6-piston 405mm kits are the fast-road upgrade. The GT 8-piston 412mm kit is the largest package, for owners who want the most heat capacity, and it needs the most wheel clearance.

Do I need the rear kit too?
No. Start with a front kit, because the front axle does most of the braking on the X5 M. A rear kit can be added later for balance and matching calipers.

Is this the same kit list as the X6 M?
Yes. Brembo lists the same front and rear kits for the X5 M (F85) and the X6 M (F86).

What is the difference between the N and T caliper kits?
Both are 6-piston GT calipers on the same disc size. Brembo lists them as two caliper families with different finish choices: the N caliper offers silver, GT-S and GT-R, and the T caliper offers fluorescent yellow.

What is the difference between the P and S rear caliper kits?
Both are 4-piston GT calipers on the same 380x28mm disc. Brembo lists them as two caliper families with different finish choices: the P caliper offers silver, GT-S and GT-R, and the S caliper offers fluorescent yellow.

Will these kits fit my wheels?
Every big brake kit needs wheel clearance, and the 412mm kits need the most room on the X5 M. Send us your wheel size and offset and we will check them against Brembo's clearance data before you order.

Fitment Notes

Brembo lists all kits on this page for the BMW X5 M (F85) 2015-2018. Brembo GT systems are designed for cars at original ride height. Raising the ride height is not compatible with the brake lines included in these systems. The GT-R 6-piston caliper needs different wheel clearance from the GT 6-piston caliper.
