AWE Touring vs Track Edition Exhaust for the Toyota GR86, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86 and Scion FR-S
AWE Touring vs Track Edition Exhaust for the Toyota GR86, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86 and Scion FR-S
The second-generation GR86 and BRZ turned the 86 platform into one of the most modified cars on the road, and the exhaust is usually the first upgrade owners shop for. AWE builds one of the most complete answers for the platform: a single cat-back suite with two distinct editions, three tip finishes, and conversion kits that let you change your mind later without buying a second exhaust. This guide breaks down the Touring Edition and Track Edition, what separates them, and which one belongs on your car.

Fitment: every 86-platform car from 2013 to 2026
AWE certifies this cat-back suite for the full 86 platform, first generation and second:
- 2013-2026 Subaru BRZ
- 2022-2026 Toyota GR86
- 2017-2020 Toyota 86
- 2013-2016 Scion FR-S
Every system is a direct bolt-on, handcrafted in the USA from 3-inch and 2.5-inch CNC mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel. AWE backs it with a Fitment Guarantee, a No Check Engine Light Guarantee, 50-state emissions legality, no tune requirement, and a lifetime warranty.
Touring Edition: full Boxer rumble, zero drone
The Touring Edition is built around AWE's patented 180 Technology drone-canceling resonators, tuned specifically for the Boxer engine. It delivers the deep, aggressive tone these cars are known for while canceling the drone-prone frequencies that make freeway driving tiring. Because 180 Technology uses resonator design rather than packing material, the tone does not degrade or change over time. Weight savings over stock is 1 lb. The Touring Edition is the right choice for a daily-driven GR86 or BRZ, or any owner who wants sound without fatigue.
Track Edition: straight-through and 12 lb lighter
The Track Edition deletes the resonator section for a clean, straight-through design that maximizes flow and delivers the loudest, rawest version of the AWE sound. It also cuts 12 lb over the stock exhaust, the biggest weight saving in the suite. The Track Edition suits cars that see real track time and owners who want maximum volume and minimum weight, and it accepts that drone-canceling is not part of the package.

Touring vs Track: which one is yours?
Choose the AWE Touring Edition Exhaust at $1,395 if the car is a daily driver, if you do long highway stints, or if you want aggressive tone with a quiet cabin at cruise. Choose the AWE Track Edition Exhaust at $1,095 if the car lives at the track, if you want the lightest and loudest option, or if cabin drone simply does not bother you.
The decision is not permanent. AWE's conversion kits switch the car between editions using the same base system: the Touring-to-Track Conversion Kit at $295 and the Track-to-Touring Conversion Kit at $625. Buy the edition that fits today, convert it later if your build changes direction.
Tips and finishes
Both editions exit through 5-inch double-walled slash-cut tips, individually adjustable for bumper depth. Finishes are Chrome Silver, Diamond Black, and Vapor Blue. AutoTalent stocks the suite in the Vapor Blue finish, and the full range is available through our AWE Tuning collection.
