AMS High Mount Intercooler | 2017-2026 Ford F-150 & Raptor EcoBoost

Ford hangs the factory intercooler low in the front bumper, exactly where a winch or a frame-cut baja or prerunner bumper needs to mount. The AMS Performance High Mount Intercooler (AMS.55.09.0002) moves charge cooling up behind the upper grille on the 2017-2026 F-150 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost and Raptor, which frees the lower opening for that hardware.

Moving up top also lets the core grow. The bar and plate core measures 24 x 14 x 3.5 inches, 1,176 cubic inches against 552 for the factory unit, or 113 percent more volume, with fin and tube geometry built to AMS spec. AMS says no one on this platform runs a bigger high mount core. CAD-designed cast aluminum end tanks feed it through 3 inch ports at both ends, and the cast outlet tube carries the blow off valve mount in the casting, ready for the factory valve or a Turbosmart VeePort. A drain plug sits at the low point of the system.

Underneath, a gusseted 1 inch 304 stainless lower support bar carries the core and is built for offroad use, and a 304 stainless upper bracket locates it from the top. The intercooler connects to the factory charge piping as delivered.

Specifications

Before You Order

Contents are as shown in AMS's kit photos (intercooler, stainless support bar, upper bracket, couplers and outlet tube). The factory charge pipes are reused.

Installation requires removing the upper front grille shutters and trimming the surrounding duct material. This intercooler connects to the factory intercooler piping only. It is not compatible with AMS or other aftermarket intercooler pipes. AMS expects a matching pipe set for the high mount in Q1 2027.

Installation

AMS's high mount intercooler installation guide (PDF) walks through removing the upper grille shutters, trimming the duct material and mounting the core on the stainless support bar. AMS notes that it cannot guarantee direct fit with every aftermarket front bumper. Some bumpers may need minor modification or custom intercooler piping.

FAQ

Can I use it with aftermarket intercooler pipes?
No. It connects to the factory piping only. The AMS F-150 Intercooler Pipes are not compatible with this high mount. AMS expects a matching set in Q1 2027.

Will it fit my aftermarket bumper?
AMS designed it to clear the lower opening for a winch or a frame-cut bumper, but it cannot guarantee direct fitment with every aftermarket bumper. Call us with your bumper brand before ordering.

Is there a version that stays in the factory spot?
Yes. The AMS Stock Location Intercooler replaces the factory core in its original position and fits 2015+ trucks.

Fitment Notes

Fits 2017-2026 F-150 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost and 2017-2026 Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost. Not for 2015-2016 trucks, the 5.0L V8, 3.3L V6, Power Stroke diesel or the Raptor R.
