A catted downpipe is the street-friendly way to unlock your turbo. It replaces the restrictive factory downpipe and catalytic converter with a larger pipe and a high-flow cat (GESI, HJS or a 100–200 cell metallic core), so the turbo spools faster and the car makes more power with a tune, while the exhaust stays quieter and cleaner-smelling than a catless setup. Every product lists its exact fitment.

High-flow catted downpipes

A high-flow catted downpipe swaps the dense factory catalyst for a lower-restriction core. You keep a cat in the exhaust but cut back-pressure right after the turbo, which is where most of the gain comes from. Looking for maximum flow for off-road or competition use? See catless downpipes, or browse all downpipes.

Active AutoWerke GESI catted downpipes

Active AutoWerke's GESI G-Sport and AFlow catted downpipes are some of the most popular catted downpipes for BMW and the GR Supra: the B58 GESI catted downpipe for the G20 M340i / G22 M440i, the N55 GESI catted downpipe for the M235i, 335i, 435i and M2 and the S58 GESI catted downpipes for the G80 M3 / G82 M4. See all Active AutoWerke downpipes.

Milltek catted downpipes

Milltek offers catted and catless versions for VW, Audi, BMW and more, such as the Milltek catted and catless downpipes for the G82 M4. See all Milltek downpipes.

IPE catted downpipes

IPE builds stainless catted downpipes for BMW M cars, Nissan GT-R, AMG, McLaren and Ferrari, including the IPE catted downpipe for the F32 435i (N55) and the IPE catted downpipe for the R35 GT-R.

AMS Performance catted downpipes

For the Infiniti Q50 / Q60, Nissan Z and GR Supra, choose the AMS VR30DDTT street lower downpipes with GESI cats or the AMS A90 Supra street downpipe with GESI cat.

More catted downpipes

We also carry 100- and 200-cell catted downpipes from FI Exhaust, Evolution Racewerks (such as the Sports Series high-flow catted downpipe for the B58 GR Supra), Valvetronic Designs, Soul Performance and Kline Innovation. Shopping for a BMW 3.0L turbo six? See our B58 downpipes.

Catted downpipe FAQ

What is a catted downpipe?

A catted downpipe replaces the factory downpipe with a larger, smoother pipe that still has a catalytic converter built in, usually a high-flow GESI, HJS or 100–200 cell metallic cat. It flows much better than stock while keeping a catalyst in the exhaust.

Catted vs catless downpipe: which should I buy?

For a street-driven car, choose a catted downpipe: it's quieter, avoids a raw-fuel smell and is easier to live with every day. A catless downpipe flows a little more and is louder, but it's sold for off-road and competition use only.

What is a high-flow catted downpipe?

A high-flow catted downpipe uses a lower-density cat (for example GESI or a 100–200 cell metallic core) instead of the dense factory catalyst, so the turbo sees less back-pressure while a catalyst stays in place.

100 cell vs 200 cell: what's the difference?

Cell count is the density of the catalyst core. A 100-cell cat flows more and is a little louder; a 200-cell cat is more restrictive but does more cleaning and tends to smell less. GESI cats are a high-flow design known for strong flow and durability.

Do I need a tune with a catted downpipe?

Yes, on almost every turbo car. A downpipe changes exhaust flow and the downstream O2 sensor readings, so pair it with a matching tune to avoid fault codes and get the full gain.
