AMS Street Catted Lower Downpipes | 2016-2024 Q50 / 2017-2022 Q60 VR30

The AMS Performance VR30DDTT Street Catted Lower Downpipes (part number AMS.53.05.0001-2) are the catted version of AMS's lower downpipes for the 3.0-liter twin-turbo VR30DDTT. They fit the 2016-2024 Infiniti Q50 3.0t, the 2017-2022 Infiniti Q60 3.0t and the 2023-2027 Nissan Z. Each side carries a GESI G-Sport high-output catalytic converter inside full 3" stainless tubing, so the car keeps a converter in place of the restrictive factory pieces while the exhaust still flows freely.

This is the pipe for owners who want more flow and better turbo response from a car that stays catted on the street. AMS chose GESI's Advanced Series converters because they are built for boosted engines: each converter is rated to support up to 850 horsepower and to tolerate exhaust temperatures up to 1500 °F. The converters also take the edge off the sound, which makes these pipes a good match for a loud aftermarket cat-back.

AMS's SnailWorks engineering team laid out the pipes in SolidWorks from 3D scans of the car, then test-fitted 3D-printed prototypes before production. The result is a mandrel-bent run with the inlet, outlet and mounting points where the factory parts sit, plus integrated brackets that tie the pipes to the chassis so they do not flex and crack.

Installation

The pipes bolt between the factory upper downpipes and the cat-back. AMS's lower downpipe installation guide (PDF) covers removal of the factory parts. The factory lock nuts on the downpipe studs are known to seize, so soak them in penetrant and back them off a little at a time with hand tools rather than an impact gun.

FAQ

What is the difference between the Street and Race lower downpipes?
Both use full 3" mandrel-bent stainless tubing and bolt into the same place. The Street pipes add a GESI catalytic converter on each side; the AMS Race Catless Lower Downpipes have no converter and are for competition use only.

Are these downpipes street legal?
AMS describes the GESI converters as EPA compliant. AMS does not list a CARB Executive Order number for this part, so check the emissions rules in your state before installing.

Will they work with my factory exhaust?
Yes. The included 2.5" to 3.0" adapter connects the pipes to the factory cat-back or to an aftermarket 2.5" or 3" system.

Do they fit the Nissan Z?
Yes. AMS lists the Street Lower Downpipes for the Infiniti Q50, Q60 and Nissan Z with the VR30DDTT engine.

How much power can the converters handle?
GESI rates each Advanced Series converter to support up to 850 horsepower.
